The Zinsou Museum in Ouidah is a fine example of what a private organization can do for the dissemination of local culture and art.
Located in a completely renovated charming residence, it presents contemporary works by African and other artists.
The diffused light highlights the objects on display and the guide is very explicit about their meaning and expressions. This museum is free and you can make a donation. I recommend visiting this place, which honors patronage. In the interior garden you can discover works related to voodoo which is widely practiced in Ouidah with the festival at the beginning of January. The statue of the voodoo god Tohossou, three-headed god of water with his snake, as well as Mami Wata, the fearsome enliven the garden with its almost British lawn. A must see !!
